Find Lamar County Inmates

Lamar County inmate records are jail and custody records maintained through the Lamar County Sheriff's Office and related state systems. A Lamar County jail roster search is not currently supported by the official jail-population link inspected in the research, so current custody should be confirmed by phone, in person, or through official notification and state-offender systems. Jail records may connect to arrest records, warrants, bonds, court charges, visitation, mail, commissary, and later transfer to state custody.

The sheriff main phone is 770-358-5159, and the jail phone is 770-358-5151. Jail Operations is led by Captain Stephanie Melton, Jail Administrator, with Lieutenant Adam Rowell listed as assistant. The official jail population portal linked by the sheriff site was inspected at http://www.interopweb.com/lamarso/ and returned a removal notice stating that the website was removed per the Lamar County Sheriff's Office. That means it should not be described as a working public roster. Current custody questions should go to jail operations by phone, the sheriff main line, or the records custodian channel. State prison transfer questions may require the Georgia Department of Corrections offender search, and notification requests may use Georgia VINE.

The Lamar County Sheriff's Office Jail Operations page documents the jail's function, staff, construction year, and capacity.

Roster Search Fields

No live Lamar County roster fields could be verified because the official linked jail-population portal was removed. When calling or making a request, use careful identifying details and avoid assuming that the jail can release every field to every caller. Name, date of birth, booking date, charge, bond, and custody status may require confirmation by staff.

GDC and Georgia VINE Custody Channels

The Georgia Department of Corrections offender query searches sentenced state offenders by name, ID or case number, age, and descriptive information. GDC also notes that county jail inmates should be checked through county resources, so it should be used when a Lamar inmate may have moved into state custody rather than as a replacement for the local jail phone line.

GDC offender search is useful after sentencing or transfer, but current Lamar jail custody still starts with local jail channels.

Booking Process in Lamar County

The jail receives and processes people taken into custody by law-enforcement agencies in Lamar County. After turnover to the jail, a person may be allowed to post bond and be released pending court hearing, or may be held until the courts dispose of the case. After conviction and sentence to county or state time, the person may remain until the local sentence is served or until transfer to a state facility.

Booking and custody records should not be confused with final court outcomes. A person can be booked and later have charges amended, dismissed, indicted, reduced, or resolved through plea or trial. For the filed charge list and disposition, check arrest records and court charges or criminal court records through the correct court office.

Visitation Hours and Rules

The Lamar County inmate support services page gives visitation and communications rules. Each visit may last up to 30 minutes but can be limited so all inmates receive equal time. Each inmate may designate up to three visitors during admissions. Two visitors are allowed per inmate during each visitation period. Visitors under 17 are not allowed unless they are the inmate's spouse or accompanied by an adult.

How to Contact an Inmate

Effective July 15, 2021, all non-legal inmate mail must be sent to Lamar County Detention Center, Inmate Name, Inmate ID number, Facility 5262, PO Box 18247, Greensboro, NC 27419. The envelope must have a complete, legible return address with the sender's first and last name, or the mail will not be scanned. Mail is limited to 10 pages or fewer per envelope, with pages no larger than 8.5 by 11 inches. Approved scanned mail is saved for inmate tablet access, and physical mail is destroyed.

Legal mail goes directly to the facility and must be marked "Legal Mail." The legal-mail address is Lamar County Detention Center, INMATE FULL NAME, inmate ID number, 121 Roberta Drive, Barnesville, GA 30204. Pay Tel Communications is the inmate telephone provider. Accounts can be set up at www.paytel.com or by calling 1-800-PAY-TELL. Housing area phones are available from 7:00 a.m. until midnight, seven days a week, and calls may be monitored except privileged communications.

Commissary and Inmate Funds

The Lamar County commissary and inmate support page identifies The Store Call as the commissary provider. Inmates may buy approved items, snacks, and prepaid phone time from their commissary accounts. Cash, money orders, or certified checks in possession at booking are credited to the inmate's account.

Money orders or certified checks can be mailed to 121 Roberta Drive, Barnesville, GA 30204, made out in the inmate's name. Personal checks are not accepted, money cannot be transferred between inmate accounts, and remaining money at release is added to a debit card issued by the jail.

What Not to Assume From Online Data

Do not assume Lamar County has a current online mugshot database, pod-location search, bond-per-charge display, or public court-date roster unless the Sheriff's Office restores a working roster and those fields are visible. The research located no official Lamar sheriff mobile app in the sheriff website header, footer, or inspected pages. The sheriff site links public resources and service vendors, but not an agency app store listing. For current custody, use the jail phone, sheriff records channel, VINE, and GDC transfer checks.
